cubs. She will only carry one at the time
and this does not hurt the cubs. Quite what
is happening with the cub on the right I
dont know. Is it getting a telling
off, or is it looking for food bits in the
lionesses mouth? Is the lioness telling the
cub something?

Lions
are to be found throughout most of central and
southern Africa. They are carnivours (meat
eaters), and like all big cats only kill to
eat. They are not classed as an endangered
species. They breed so well in
captivity that zoos have to stop them breeding as
there is no place for all the new cubs. The
lion has become a successful survivor so the king
of the jungle should remain with us for a long
time.

At
the end of a long day, three juvenile male lions
take a well earned drink!
